Unfortunately, like so many Americans, countless Veterans are forced to choose between necessities like purchasing food, permanent housing or medicine.
1 in 9 working-age veterans are food insecure
24% of active-duty service members were food insecure in 2020
1.2m low-income veterans use SNAP (formerly known food stamps)

Every day, countless Veterans struggle to provide adequate nutrition for themselves and their families and struggle to pay rent. Across the United States, veterans and military families visit food banks and food pantries to help make ends meet.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is proud to partner with veteran organizations for distributions and other assistance whenever they need our help. The Food Bank provides food to hundreds of emergency pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and senior centers where Veterans are served.
All of these agencies stand ready to serve the brave men and women who have fought for and protected our freedoms.
